“FREEWHEEL”: vt: freely rolling along without direction or purpose

Freewheeler is the name Alexa Wheeler and her husband had always given to their fishing boats; so when they decided to leave the mainland for Islamorada and start a Vacation Rental Company, Freewheeler Vacations best described the “laid back” vacation atmosphere of the Keys.

Freewheeler filled Islamorada’s need for a professional full time Vacation Rental Company. Previously many Realtors had dabbled in the Vacation Home business for their clients but none had “fine tuned” the business.

In 1990, John ElKoury joined Alexa at Freewheeler and soon the business branched into Real Estate Sales and Long Term Rentals as well as non-rental absentee owner management programs. In 1999, Freewheeler’s sales division, Freewheeler Realty, joined Realty World, a nationwide Broker network and became Realty World-Freewheeler. Through Realty World, Freewheeler has become one of Islamorada’s top Real Estate Sales leaders while maintaining the “Hometown” attitude Alexa and John insist on.
